How much is my horse worth?

I worked off $1500 for him, he's a 10 y/o OTTB.
Related to a few good sires

That's his pedigree,
He's trained in dressage, and hunter and can jump 3 footers.
He's a great boy, almost 16hh , he's a pleasure to ride, hasnt spooked once since I got him, we did have some respect issues at first but only because he hadn't been rode for six months. He's UTD on worming, floating, feet. He's completely sound. When I ride him he changes gaits and keeps them just by me clicking my tongue. Puts his head in-between his legs and backs up for however long you want him to. He lunges perfect and roundpens great. I don't have to tie him to saddle him. He's easy to catch and he follows me everywhere without a halter or lead. No respect issues anymore. He picks up all feet easy, no bite kick buck or rear. He flexes and stretches like a charm. I really don't know what else to say so any questions please ask, I'm not plannin on selling him, I was just wondering if he's worth what I worked and if so, I'm just curious (: Im not the best at pricing things, thanks (:

I horse is worth what somebody wants to pay for him. Lol Why do you want to know--is he for sale?

No no no, lol. It's just one of those things.. I love him to death, and most of the stuff he does is cause I've worked with him so much, and he's just so special to me, but I'm wondering what he'd be worth to others, if I put a price on him it'd be way too high just cause he's worth that much to me. Make sense I guess? I'm honestly just curious.

Honestly, asking what your personal, not for sale horse is worth is kind of a pointless question.

I could tell you $500.00 and someone else could tell you $3,000.00. Doesn't mean either of us is right or wrong, since emotional attachments are priceless.

If you seriously want to know what he's worth in terms of monetary value, contact a professional equine appraiser.

Jeez, don't see why people can't just answer a question.

Go on websites like horseclicks and equinenow and compare him to other horses for sale in your area. That will give you a decent idea. Asking people online from all over the country isn't going to tell you much because the economy is different in every area.

We DID. You just didn't like the answers.

Is that a cop-out? No. There are too many variables. For example, where I live, folks feed horses baled hay year round - and it is getting pretty expensive, and forecast to go higher. As a result, there are quite a few horses available for free, or close to it. That might not be true where you live.

There are no videos to see how he moves. I can guess which horse he is in your 'barn', but you didn't post any pictures.

Also, a LOT depends on how he behaves when ridden, and what you mean by "He's trained in dressage, and hunter and can jump 3 footers." Trained in dressage can cover a lot of ground. A good dressage horse is worth far more than one that has done some but not competed. And where I live, I'm afraid 'trained in dressage' might mean 'I've forced his head into his chest'...

Right now, where I live, there is no reason to go over $1000 for a decent pleasure riding horse. If you know folks and have a good reputation, you might get one free. But if he can work cattle, or has been barrel racing, or has competed in jumping or dressage, then you are out of the general market and into a specialty market. And the specialty markets depend on how GOOD he is at the specialty.

I paid $1200 for my mare Mia. Knowing what I now know, and being realistic, I consider her 'unsaleable' - I literally doubt I could give her away. Yet she is the horse that got me interested in horses, and I still believe that if I improve my riding and she responds to training, we might even yet - after 4 years - meet somewhere in the middle. If a very experienced rider wanted her, I'd give her away for her own good. But I wouldn't sell her to someone off of Craigslist for $5,000. So what is her worth? Is it less than $0, or over $5000?

When I say trained in dressage I have no idea what that means, it was before I got him and I'm a western rider. I did start him on barrels and I didn't see much potential I did find pictures of him competing in hunter. And sorry, I'm on mobile otherwise I would put up pictures.

And I haven't uploaded any recent pictures, those are probably a year or so old, but he is the bay.

All I know is the barn he came from is strictly English, and they competed in shows etc. Her lessons would have their horse that they took lessons on and went to competition,
