How tall will he be?

So I've read so many ways to measure how tall your horse will grow to be. My 2yr old egyptian Arabian is right at 14hh. Do to being a twin and Arabian he's maturing a little slow... any guesses to how tall he will be?

14hh at 2 usually means he won't grow much more than that. A horse is 90% of their adult height at 1yo usually. He might make 14.2hh, maybe 14.3. I doubt he would get to 15hh but it IS possible.

Edit; he WILL keep growing upwards for a while yet (usually horses finish growing upwards at about 4yo, some warmbloods keep going until 6yo) and they don't stop filling out for about 2 years after they stop growing upwards :)

He's just now really started growing, 2 inches in the last month alone. His breder thought he'd be around 15hh. As I mentioned he was a twin and the smaller, second born so he is a bit behind on his growth. I guess really it'll be wait and find out. :)

How long have you had him? He could be responding to a difference in nutrition, which does make a massive difference with foals that have had poor nutrition. I know it's a different species but my puppy when I got her put on 2kg in the first week we had her simply from growing because she was getting fed THE BEST of everything and I wasn't letting our other dogs steal her food. She was too skinny when we got her and they'd been feeding her up for weeks ('they' were a rescue organisation with a VERY good reputation) but I suspect that the other dogs in the foster home may have been pushing her off her food.

I don't know, I don't have THAT much experience with foals and young horses. My friend's just-turned-3yo appaloosa has put on at least a hand in height in the past year so clearly it does happen.

I've had him about a year, and he was definitely not mal-nourished where I got him from and his nutrition has not changed. Just think it was a growth spurt. We have a little mare that I got as a yearling from the auction that was mal-nourished and she gained easily a hand in the first few months we had her just from being fed. I'm just so curious to see what he ends up like. His twin brother is, at the moment, a couple inches taller but he's built so totally different. In fact, he just took top 5 at the Egyptian Event.

I have no experience with twins. I believe that they very rarely survive and even IF they do they are not as big, as well-put-together, or as healthy in the long run as they would have been had they been a single birth, but since I've never actually had anything to do with them, I don't know from experience. Is your little fellow the gorgeous little horse in your avatar? CUTE.

If you can find a measuring tape or ruler that reads in inches measure from the center of one of your horse's knee to the ground. If say, the measurement is 14 inches give or take the horse's height would translate to 14hh at maturity. This is not an exact science, but comes really close to being right on. I have done this before and it does prove to be fairly correct.

I tried that but according to it he's only going to be 12hh and he's 14 right now and my 15.2hh QH will be 14hh.....

Personally I think he will probably get pretty close to 15hh. My Rocky/Morgan gelding just turned 5 and is still growing, he shot up over an inch over the winter. It may take him a while to get there though:)
