My Icelandic horse (I don't have him anymore) used to get a 'beard' like that in the winter. It was really handy when I needed to catch him, no need to use a halter you could just lead him around by grabbing the hairs on his chin, nice thick handle.

I don't think that horse is ugly though, I mean, he's just winter-hairy, he'll shed into a nice sleek horse in the summer, when it's appropriate for a horse to be shiny and sleek with short hairs.

Awww I know an Icelandic and she's wonderful and VERY cute. She does get furry in the winter though and is a bear to shed out! Once she does though, her coat is beautiful!

Way too cute. He looks "amish". hehehe. Looks like a lot of work during shedding season though.

Aww, he really does look like he has a beard! Well, at least he's keepin' warm!
