looking for a little paint mare I sold 2 yrs ago...

I found out the jerk that raised her and sold her to me as a yearling ( when her papers came, showed she was 3!!) lives just 8 miles from my home. I'm looking to see if her new owners have registered her under their name, or if she's still listed under mine? I'm really curious to see how she's turned out for them! She was great, but the guy who bred her doesn't deserve to have ANY horses. He has 14 mares with foals on 10 dry acres, with hay his cattle and donkeys don't eat. They're all skin and bones, and this little mare I'm looking for, with 3 of her half-sisters, has stunted growth due to malnutrition.

I'm almost to the point I'd like to buy this little lady back for my little boys.

Could you look her up for me? Her APHA registered name is Heavenly Rainbow. TIA!

I take it you no longer have the name/contact info of the people you sold to? You should be able to call up APHA and ask if you're the registered owner or not. Although, unless you have reason to believe the mare has ended up in a bad home, you should really just look for another horse for your kids. She's probably quite happy where she is.

If the horses are really in that bad of condition at the breeders, perhaps you should notify your local law enforcement and have them send out animal control to assess the situation.

Also, getting a vet check is always a good idea when buying a horse for reasons just like you encountered- one quick look at a horse's teeth is an easy way to get a horse's age, especially when they're 5 and under.

I'm absolutely sure she's fine where she is, I only wish to know how she's doing and to let owner aware I will buy her back if they're ever in a position to sell. And I don't have current owner's info, as I moved cross country, left her at my parents' place, and since they divorced, they sent my horses back to sale. I worked hard with that mare, and spent 22 nights sleeping in a stall with her fighting strangles and colic. She has a serious mold allergy, and I'd just like to know how she's doing.
