Thank you, I am a little smitten, so I'm biased.
    He's a really fun horse. :)

Hey, we're all a little biased when it comes to our own horses. I think mine are the most beautifulest horsiez in da world, but I can see their conformation faults if I really want to be honest with myself!

Brandon's a lovely boy, Spooky. No surprise at all that you're smitten with him.

Your boy does look Polish/Crabbet- very solid and great bone.. He looks obviously Arab to me, and I think you got a great fins there.. :)
My Polish mares also have great substance, with one being a bit more refined and dishy, and lovely dispositions.
There's some interesting stuff about Lady Blunt/Crabbet breeding on one of my threads.. Check out page 18, post # 175 and 178 I think...if you wade through the off-topic minutia, there's other interesting info about Crabbrt and Phara Arabians..

Your boy looks very Polish and substantial to me. Great bone, plenty of substance and yet, so very typey and Arabian. That huge eye for one thing and how his neck is set on and shaped all scream Arabian to me. His movement in his pics and overall conformation also say Arabian. Type is WAAAY more than a dishy face.

Guessing that if Spook wanted to wade through your long thread she would have done that already.

I go with the Polish designation. If you look in Data Source you will see that Negatiw or Negativ is alternately listed at PASB (Polish Arabian Stud Book) and RASB (Russian Arabian Stud Book) and that Naseem is listed as RASB and his parents are listed GASB (German Arabian Stud Book) while his Grand Parents are listed PASB. That happened a lot during the war, the Poles lost the horses to the Germans and Russians and the horses got used in both programs and had foals in both countries. So if Negativ also got used in Crabbet breeding (not my strong suit those pedigrees) he would also be considered a Crabbet sire. But with your horse's pedigree I'd go with the Pure Polish.

Here's a link to an historical article on the Arabian Horse Registry site, it talks about the devastation WW I and WW II had on the Polish breeding programs.Welcome to Arabian Horses.org - Education

I agree he's primarily Polish, but since Negatiw was used for Crabbet breeding, then by default Brandon is also Crabbet bred even if it's a little sideways by association.

I know my horse was Crabbet/Polish bred, because he was a grandson of Serafix.

Doesn't really matter, since Brandon's a lovely representative of the breed regardless of who's in his bloodlines.

I do appreciate the info, but I have to say, I wouldn't post about my horse in your thread, it comes off as bragging a little bit.

    Maybe it's just me.

I mentioned it as a Crabbet reference for review; not necessarily posting, though you're welcome to if you like. Crabbet discussion is on topic.. He has bragging qualities..
