Well, they are decent foundation lines. I just wish there were names I recognized in the first 4 generations. Everything "famous" is 5 generations and back...

I know nothing about this stuff, but I thought about that too. It defiantly seems to fizzle out closer too him, but like I said, I know very little about qh bloodlines.

Their great bloodlines, poco bueno, king and zantanon are all great studs, my gelding has them in his lines too

I also like the foundation lines, but agree that they seem to dwindle in the immediate generations. But they are good base lines, and we all know that you can't ride the papers, you can only ride the horse. His personal achievements will only build on the good foundations. =)

This is mainly just for my curiosity. Wanted to know more about his background, but I still like the little fella either way.

I found a picture of his sire. He is a bulldog; the neck on him is ridiculous! I guess that's the good foundation line you guys are referring to? Side note: if you ever look up info on a horse with 'gay bar' in his name, it's really great if you go ahead and specify that you're looking for a quarter horse...

You need to start doing more resuch then. With in 3 generations you have Poco King Tuck, Poco Bueno, Gay Bar King, Poco Stripe. All in just the right places on the pedigree too. Then in the 4th generation you get Watch Joe jack Poco again King Eather King (One of my Favs) Hank Leo Three Bars.

This is where I disagree you can ride the papers. If not then you would not have associations tracking them. You would not see certain lines excelling in certain disciplines over other lines even if the horses are built the same. You will see time and time again how there are certain crosses that work better then others and how certain stallions are much better broodmare sires then sire of sires. There is so much you can get from a pedigree. Only time that is makes no differance is with a finished gelding aready well proven in what they are doing. But at some point someone looked at his pedigree.

Not finished. More holes than a golf course. Me too, I might add. The only reason I have this guy is that the people I bought him from thought he had a "small motor". But he was skinny, so I fed him and now he's a different horse. I'm working hard to be good for him though. I need to do more research too. I really don't know what to expect farther down the road from him.
