Also What color would you call her?

Aww :) isnt she cute! I don't think she is overweight, she is fat, but not exceedinly. Personally I would just give her pony pellets and some bulk feed like hay. What are you goin to use her for??

I have a young daugher so it will be her first pony. I'd also like to driver her with a cart someday. Mandy (the pony) is really calm and quiet. She trained to ride and drive. But I don't have a cart or harness yet. I hope my husband can build me a cart.

What color would you call her?

I would call her chocolate palomino :) but I may well be wrong :)

She doesnt look overly fat but she does look a little round. Maybe you could just keep her on a monitored dose of good hay. After all, horses don't NEED hard feeds they are just helpful for horses who are in heavy work or have trouble with weight etc good luck with her :)

Yeh Chocolate Palomino seems to fit.... Your right jazzy horses don't need hard feed, although to maintain their minerals, vitiams (keeping in mind they don't have a mineral block) and energy requirments it sometimes is the easiest thing. I love Pony Pellets, and they are get for maintaining there weight. Yes the very best of luck..

If you have good grass, most ponies thrive on that and hay alone, maybe a handful or so of feed. It really depends on the pony, the environment, and her lifestyle.

I give my mini 3 handfuls of steamed crimpped oats with a daily wormer pelet in the am and 1 handful, with some alphalfa in the evening...

She is VERY fat. I would never feed a miniature horse grain. The only time my miniatures had grain was during the winter when the weather was VERY cold or right before my mares foaled.

Miniature horses digest food a lot more differently than any other breed of horse. Grain and grass are the 2 things you have to be very careful with.

The minis at our barn, only get fed grain once a day, but its practically sweet feed and they get hay twice a day. We've found if they get fed it twice a day they get huge.

    Color and feeding

She is definetly a Chocolate Palomino, and a dappled one at that, if you're still wondering about color. She is SOOO cute!!! And she is pretty chunky...I would reccomend taking her off her grain...minis usually don't need anything to keep their weight (unlike some TBs I know of!)
