Huh..
I think the *right* kind of punishment is *nessesary*
Like my gelding..when he has to something he doesn't want to he will back up, move sideways, anything but walk forward.
If I give him a pop on the muzzle, he immediatly starts acting like the docile horese he was supposed to be.
And he actually gets into a good mood afterwards.

We are trying to buy a farm and the woman who currently owns it has mini's there.
Here are a few pics:
This is her stallion
Two mares grooming one another
Mare
And this is the girl we might get from her when we buy her house
They are all very well behaved and super sweet. I have groomed them and picked their feet. Sweet personalities too. They whinny and come running over when they see you.

how did you pick their feet. I've always wondered if you kneel, or just bend far over.
Those minis are very cute. I really like the coloring of the one you might get.
At my first stable, i believe there was a mini. Mush-Mush. He was the meanest nastiest pony ever. Only a select few could actually handle him, not because he was rambunctious or anything, but because he would bite and stuff.
I just bent down really far.
Many years ago I owned a mini named Maxine. She was really small. I used to kneel down or squat down to pick her feet.
There is a mini at the stable I currently board at and the farrier trimmed his feet while he squatted down too. He said some farriers kneel.
mm, yeah.
I thought that too.
When I popped him the first time I was like "ohmigosh, did I really just do that?"
But it hasn't affected him at all

Miniature's are so cute, I want one. But yes, like all horses they need to be trained - a lot of people keep them as pasture pets, which leads to a lot of "Fugly" foals.
They are the same thing as full sized horses except they are a lot tougher. They are easier keepers and they are great for companionship. Most are easy to care for tho some are escape artists.
I recommend one over anything other animal if you want to get one for company for another equine friend.
They sure will!
My Tb is lonely - my other horse decided that he doesn't like my TB, so they're seperated.
It'll be a hoot to see a 16.0hh horse next to a 27" minnie
They are cute but I do find unless there is a good use for them such as a companion animal, other than feeding they cost the same as caring for a horse.
Not sure I would get one as I don't have use for them BUT they are so darn cute!
