Is my horse trying to turn into a roan?

My mare, duchess, is gettign white all over her rump, flanks, and now starting to go on her neck... I thought maybe it is just winter hair, but its staying in there, its summer hair... her grandma was a roan. Is that what duchess is trying to do? She is also getting alot of dapples. I would take pics, but she is dusty and they don't show up that well. She is 7 years old, shouldnt she be a set color now lol. She is also getting darker, with almost dun color on her chest, flank, and back legs towrds her but, she also has a black line goin down her back. What the h is she doing lol. She is registered bay.

It sounds to me like she is just a regular bay with countershading (hence the dorsal stripe) and she could just be developing white spots. If she was a roan, that would have been obvious long before now and she shouldn't be graying out because that would start around her eyes and muzzle and would also have started before now.. IJDK!! Pix would probably help but I understand about the dirty fuzzies. :) It could be Birdcatcher spots developing but they are usually only seen in TBs so................................. :( I'm confused!!!

Lol I don't know. It might just be sheding hair to, im not sure, there is just a lot of white hairs and there seems to be more everyday. I think it might just be here winter hair, I guess when she is fully shedded out is when the truth will be reveled lol. She better not be getting gray hairs around her eyes and muzzle, she is only 7 years old!!!! On her chest though, it really looks like a bucksking color, it don't look like a bay color, and she is fully sheded out at her chest, no winter hairs left. I don't know.....

Well my TB looks a totally different color in the winter, he gets white hairs all over his body.... he is 14 tho too so it could be his age

I don't think I horse can be roan or dun unless one of its parents was... I could be wrong though.
