I would love some information on the breed. I would love to see some pictures as well! Tell me about your NSHs. What do you do with them? Are they fun to ride?
This is Baby Girl. She is three quarters gaited NSH and one quarter TWH. She is just about to turn five and is registered SSH. She is known to rack occasionally, but I'm trying to bring out her walk. She's a hyper little thing, incredibly smart, and a little alpha mare. She has the heart and endurance of an Arabian, and that classy saddlebred movement at liberty. I can't quite bring it out undersaddle!
I specialize in CTR and endurance, but also do jumping (she's a fabulous jumper) and am working on getting her ready for rail classes.
Fun to ride? Currently, no. I'm working on her gaits, so I don't do much with her but walk walk walk... And gallop sometimes. THAT'S fun. Once I get her gaiting right, she'll be a joy.
Your horse is very beautiful. Here is our National Show Horse that we recently bought. Arab/Saddlebred He's very nice to ride. He's been shown in Hunter and Western Pleasure but with us he will be trail ridden. He is 12. I think he loves his new life on the farm! lol
I think I got confused by a previous comment.... Haha! And that's great to hear that those horses did well in dressage and huntseat, as that is what I would be doing with my possible lease horse (who is a NSH). Does anyone have any other pictures of their NSH undersaddle?
You can do any discipline with a NSH that you would do with a saddlebred - western, hunt, saddleseat, dressage, etc, etc. Ours is a saddleseat, another one we had was hunt, I've known some that do well in dressage. It's pretty much whichever discipline you like and your horse does well in.
So I rode my very first NSH yesterday. All I have to say is WOW! She is super pretty and SO much fun. Very spunky, which I am really starting to enjoy in horses. Her trot is odd though... It is smoothe, but bounce at the same time..? I am just used to my old TBs super choppy, back-killing trot. ;P
So NSHs are now in my top three favorite breeds (TBs Morgans and NSHs). Now I just need to get my butt up on a morgan.... Hehe
This is my hopeful lease horse (the NSH):
She was used for halter and hunt seat then went first/second level and then was sadly neglected. A lot of people didn't want to spend the time working with her because she is so high strung and a bit spazzy. I adore her though. I am hopefully going to lease her and figure out how to actually ride.... She is amazing <3
