Paint Horse Brand?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you know of this branding. I ride a 8 year old reg (i think) Paint. I only ride her, so I don't know that much about her but she is the QH type. She has this brand on her left stifle and I'd like to see where she came from. if you guys know anything, let me know.

Would the pain horse registry be able to help you. I know in Canada we have a registry specific to brands, and you can contact them to get help. I am sure there has to be someone like that in the states, or even contacting the paint registry to see if they can help you. The branding may have nothing to do with the breed. It could also be just ranch or farm branding, because anyone can register a brand.

In my experience, branding on paints and quarter horses are usually breeder specific, instead of a breed registry like with many warmbloods. Meaning each breeding ranch or private breeder can have their own brand that they put on their foals so they can keep track of them. As far as I know, American Paint Horse Association (APHA), which is the most popular paint registry, does not have a standard brand, and neither does the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).

As stated several breeding farms can & do Brand their horses. It is Farm specific.Brands often will be documented on their registration papers as Identifiable markings. I had owned one horse with a brand & we had to take pics of it & it was documented on his papers. Best way to trace what farm it came from is to see the owners & breeders of horse listed on the Reg Papers

I can't see the brand real well but it looks like it says Circle S (or C) Ranch.

Some states have brand registries (mainly western states) and some don't. Like Painted Pastures said the easy way would be to look at the papers to see if any of the registered owners used their ranch name or the ranch may be named after their surname so for example if that is an S in the brand look and see if say John Smith was one of the owners.
