    One thing to keep in mind is that when the registeries (both AQHA and APHA) were established, the founders (mainly breeders) picked the foundation set of QH and Paints, and they cetainly had a self serving financial interest in how this was done relative to showing, racing, and breeding of their stock. The registeries then established rules to define, from that point on, what could be registered as a QH or Paint. The fact that the registeries have changed their rules over time relative to cropouts and parentage reinforces this financial interest, IMHO.
    Both of these American breeds have their roots in English and Spanish blood, and although not 100% genetically identical, I have never noticed any breed related differences in their dispositions.
