Pinto registries.... or something else?

I just purchased a beautiful pinto colored sporthorse that I am going to event with.

The woman I bought him from said the previous owner claimed the horse has APHA papers but couldn't find them.... and if he did, he'd send them to her. (I bought Chumley a day or two after my she acquired him.)

I don't know his sire or dam.

Can I register him with any registries or associations?

He will be registered with the USEA because I'm going to event him....

He has a 1/2 bald face, four high whites, quarter sized spots on his belly and a quarter sized spot on his poll.

Any tips would be helpful!

If you know the name of the owner that had the horse registered with the APHA, I would call the APHA....they should be able to help you out.

P.s. He looks beautiful.

I was really curious how the APHA handles these types of situations, so I asked them (hope you don't mind) Here is there response:

In order to assist you in locating the horse you mention, the following information will be needed:

1. Registered name and number of the sire
2. Registered name and number of the dam
3. Last recorded owner

APHA currently has over 890,000 horses registered and we must have this information in order to significantly narrow the search.

Edited to add: I am sure if you could find out his registered name that they would be able to help you find the rest of the information - I know that's the hard part, though :(

Is he branded?

It might come down to calling every registered qh breeding facility and asking if they know him. He does have pretty unique markings
