Polish Arabians?

I have a friend who has a Polish Arabian mare. I have no idea what so ever on what bloodlines, haha, but I was told she was polish bred. I'm very interested in what they are typically bred for. This mare is around 14h, and is on the stockier side. I really wish I had pictures to post, but I will have to take some the next time I go out. Anyway, I know that there are some Arab people on here and I would love to know more about them! Thanks :)

I have a Polish bred mare! I love Polish Arabs, they're my fave.

I know in my girl's case, her bloodlines are almost entirely made up of racing-bred Polish Arabs. And she is, even at 28, a fast little cookie when she wants to be! I've had fun races with friends a few times and Lacey has never lost.

Typically, Polish-bred Arabians seem to be the ones that are the most versatile.
I know my girl spent time as a youngster being some kind of dressage horse, then she moved on to a extreme trail pony, then retired for 12 years, then came back (after I bought her) to be a less extreme trail-endurance pony and lesson horse. She also LOVES to "herd" things. Show her a cow, a llama, whatever, she doesn't care. As long as it moves when she pushes it, she's pushing it.
She also (before I knew she was mostly blind!) did her best at jumping. But she was a pretty terrible jumper (probably the whole blind thing), though she never actually botched a jump other than choosing a weird spot for take-off, so that's not something we do.
And, of course, while she's doing all that^, she has ERU (moonblindness) and is close to 95% blind.

Talk about versatile with a heart of gold!!

ETA- can't tell you all that without a picture!! What AM I thinking! Hahaha
She's a stocky model too - it's a pretty typical trait among Polish Arabians. I love it!

Wow! I was reading the post you had on the ERU. I would have had no idea that it was this mare! I know my friends mare I have been offered, but right now I'm not in the place to take her. I would take her in a second because I know she could be an all around good mare who could hold her own. Makes me want her even more after your post. Lol.

I found a picture! It's a bad cell phone picture, and ignore the background.. Like I said she is not mine.

I totally know what you mean!
She's been at least 50% blind the whole 4, almost 5, years I've owned her but it was only last spring, when she lost most of the rest of her sight, that her blindness became somewhat apparent. Even as it is, unless you really knew what to look for, you'd probably just think she's quirky seeing horse. She's amazing.
All my friends joke that she's a unicorn since it seems like there's nothing in the world serious enough to actually take her out of the game. Things come along that would be nearly impossible for the average horse to deal with and she basically just laughs at whatever it is, then recovers in half the time it would take a "normal" horse.

I'm a firm believer in things that are meant to be eventually becoming reality when the time is 'right' for them. Maybe something will work out for you to one day get "your" girl! :) She's SUPER cute, btw! Looks like a good sturdy all-around mare to me!!

My first pony was blind in one eye. Never phased him one bit. Haha. That something might eventually work out with this mare, and in the mean time I can ride her anytime I want. She is a 14yr old who really hasn't been worked, but I do believe with work she will be awesome. Haha. Thank you so much Wallaby, I love your story :)
