Question reguarding TB's registered in the Jockey Club

So I was recently helping my friend register her foals to the Jockey Club- getting the DNA samples, taking pictures, writing descriptions etc. So basically all this stuff is sent to the Jockey Club to identify the horses right? I recently got my own OTTB and I was wondering if they could send me copies of that stuff since my TB is retired. I'm particularly interested in his baby pictures though- not really the hair or anything. Can they do that if I show like a proof of ownership or something? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I really have little knowledge on racing. I'm just so curious to see my horse's baby pictures lol.

Bumping up for you, would be interested in finding this out myself, also.

Can you read his lip tattoo?

That would be the first step; identifying his tattoo. From there you can learn his name, race record, and look up his pedigree. After that, I would call the Jockey Club and see what kind of proof of ownership they would require to send you the items you're asking about, if they can indeed send that sort of thing to you at all.

Where are you from? You would have to go to his last trainer, find out who the owner 'was' and work from there. A lot of OTTBs don't come with papers.

Photos aren't attached to TB papers, unfortunately - I would have loved to see Ronan in his baby awkwardness! I am subscribing to see if there is anyone who does know if there is a way to get photos sent in with registration..

JC papers aren't like any other breed registration. The papers are issued to the horse, and subsequent owners just sign them. I have JJ's papers, and they're really quite unimpressive.

As far as race records, if you know his registered name and tattoo number, you can find out that info from the Jockey Club.

I doubt seriously that there are any foal pictures of your horse, and even if there were, his breeder would have them. They most certainly don't get sent with the foal registration.

I myself am from NJ, my TB is a PA bred- I'm actually boarding him at the farm he was born. He was personally given to me by his owner and she's giving me everything she has on him.

Oh I know all his info already so I guess I should go straight to the Jockey Club then and ask.

I know! They just stay on file at the JC, you'd think they'd include that sort of thing...

Hmm. I know with most other registries, photos are included with registration. I'm thinking that isnf the case for TBs.
