Registering a half Friesian?

Hello everyone,

I was looking into registering my Morgan / Friesian gelding so I could get some papers and make him more valuable in general, taking him to legitimate shows and whatnot, when I go to sell him, he is a training project. However, there are a lot of fake registries out there that just want to take your money.

Is there a registry that is looked better on, even though it is crossbreeding? I do not know much about registration in general so any help is appreciated. His sire is the dutch imported sire Arnout fan Fallingasate "Raven". Really I am pretty lost here so any advise will be gladly heeded. Thanks!

This is kind of an old thread but if you still need info I think I have it for you. I bought a Friesian Sport Horse in January. She is registered with the "Friesian Sport Horse Registry" (Home) but there is also the "Friesian Heritage Horse & Sporthorse intl" ( The second seems be more active wrt shows etc but I was disappointed to find out that you can't be registered to both. The first one is the oldest registry dedicated to cross-bred Friesians. There is also a Moriesian Horse Registry but I only know that because they are listed on my certificate of inspection as a member of the Federated Friesians GMO.

The cool thing about the second one is that they have a separate registry for 2nd generation cross bred Friesians, although that probably doesn't really affect you.

I can at least guarantee that the 2 above mentioned registries are legit. =)

I've done a bunch of research for shows in the friesian cross breed world but I haven't been able to find anything useful. The purebred Friesian people are a little "cool" towards us cross breeds.

Hope that helps and have fun! Morgan/Friesian can be a really pretty cross.

Ya that does. I have looked into it a bit more since I have posted this. I also didn't know if it would be "better" to register him as a Friesian sporthorse or as a half Friesian. I think I have looked into both you mentioned, I just can't make up my mind at this point.

Raven is also my horse's sire, and I have him registered with the Friesian Sporthorse Registry. His dam was only listed as 'unknown Saddlebred' but Flying W has offered to research and get me the papers on her.
