Rode an Arab for the First Time

So against the nature of the common Paint horse owner, I've always really admired Arabians (well I pretty much admire every breed, but still). Today I got to ride a grey Arab mare for the first time at the local rescue ranch! She's at the rescue for a reason, so she's lost a lot of her training (the rescue knew her when she was young too, and she was a good riding horse at one point). However, I was determined to ride her! My friend has more confidence and rode before me and then I got on. She obviously needs some work, but I LOVED her. I didn't lope much because I was working on calming her down, but when I did I loved it. And her jog was great. She's probably the only horse I've ridden that actually wanted to go go go! Needless to say I was very excited. I am now determined that my next horse is an Arab mare... I have no clue when that will be!

I remember the first time I rode an Arab, she was a bay mare but she wasn't just bay... she was like polished mahogany!! And I've never known a coat to be so smooth! And her trot, my god, we were seriously floating! Ahh, I so know how you feel right now!

My first arab as a bay gelding. He was awesome, but he was the typical hot head. Lol

I'm partial to Arabs, too! But, if I could fit one of each breed on my property, I would.

I have ridden Arabs before and I will do it again in a heartbeat
The Arab I tried was not a typical hot head she was calm and I loved
To ride her If she was 30 minutes closer I would have taken her

They have the energizer buuny kind of energy. That is why I like them.
They also have the smoothest coats.
I'm agree with gigem if I could I would like to have some of most breeds.
There are only a few I have no interest in.
You keep riding that mare you may have to adopt her.
That is just a warning of course. Shalom

The thing I love about Arabians is the Energizer Energy. They may be HOT but I've actually RARELY met a true HOT HEAD that I would not ride. Some as youngsters may be pretty hot and silly but even they settle down with age, it just takes some a little longer. I have one of those, a beautiful bay mare who as a youngster was such an air head that nobody (including me) wanted to even consider breaking her to saddle for fear she'd forget someone was up on her. Now at 8 years old, she's going out for saddlebreaking. She's had 2 foals and now at 8 she's settled and sensible enough that I actually can't wait to ride her for the first time. WHAT a switch! I think she's actually going to end up being one of my best riding horses.
