Your friends horse could just about be his twin. That's funny! Gorgeous!

I can see Saddlebred in him but not purebred. He is beautiful whatever he is and I am happy he got you and you were able to give him a good home. He is one fancy looking trail horse that is for sure. Enjoy him. I too would love to see a video of him. :)

I will have to get a good video of him. The few I have are when I first got him and I was still learning his gaits.

He's cute!! Really like him! I don't see him looking like a saddlebred, but can see the twh. However, his tail does make me wonder. Poor guy!! So happy he is in a loving home. Wishing you both the very best!

I've had Saddlebreds for 30 years and his head doesn't look like a Saddlebred. Padded Walking Horses are shown with set tails too.

I spend a lot of time around NSHs. He doesn't look to be so or pure saddlebred.. Funny though, I did help train a NSH who looks a lot like your guy.. And he's a pally too lol, wish I had some pics of him to share.

I see a TWH though, maybe a tad saddlebred, a cross of sorts, but mostly walker. Handsome fellow you have :)

Whatever he is-he is gorgeous! And to have smooth gaits on top of that-You won the horse lottery! Congratulations.

I really wish I knew what he was. I don't show him so it doesn't really matter but he's an awesome horse and I just want to know what he is. I ride w a TWH and comparing the 2 riding together, they are nothing alike. I need to get a good video of him. That would make it easier to attempt to figure out his breed I think.

i share my life with a nsh who is 50/50. Here's a couple of pics of him (the grey in the first pic). Not the greatest pics, but maybe this can help with the nsh comparison?

Also, how do you mean he isn't like riding the twh? I know most nsh's i've ridden tend to feel more like a glide, less bounce, spring or shuffle. Does he seem to fit into the glide?

His movement is very forward and smooth where as most TWH I've ridden are more side to side similar to the shuffle you mentioned.

Are there many 5-gaited TWH? I haven't come across many at all in my searching.

Top left picture his head does not look like a saddlebred. Though I could see it a little in the other pictures. Personally I think he could be a saddlebred though I am not an expert. You could find a place to send a few of his hairs and get genetic testing
