Green Broke
I went to a horse race the other day.
I am going to be honest. I find them exciting to watch them run by you and you want the horse you bet on or atleast wanted to bet on win and when they do you get happy to see that they did just that. I plan on going to another one for the 4th of July.
Yes,they are fed concentrated feed, yes they are ran everyday for practice, yes they are started too young IMO,yes they get arthritis at younger ages.
The other day a horse race was going at the downs and 3 jokey's got hurt(they didn't die) and 2 horses were euthanized. It is heartbreaking and they do it for the money. And no there is nothing I can do help some of the issues. We actually have a 16 year old ex race horse and he is in good condition other than his hurt leg at the current moment. And vets do come out and look over the horses. Like everyone mentioned there is flaws in every sport and although there is people still go and watch and compete.
I am going to be given a lot of crap for this but that is IMHO

I agree. By that logic one can't really object to any form of abuse. I also don't get the "horse racing is thrilling, so that makes it OK" argument.
