I see a lot of people testing for color. Can you test for breed too?? i am just curious because we had a filly bornin March unexpectedly (bought mama in Jan and out popped baby in march suprise!) and am just wondering what she is...besides a pony lol. Mom is a silver dapple and baby looks like she will follow suit. They are my avatar pic and you can see closer pics in my barn
That is a very cut mom and baby
I'm sure you can get DNA testing done to check for breed. Many breed associations want the test done for certification.
I am not aware of any "general" DNA tests that can test specifically for breed-- in the registries I have been involved with (Appaloosa, Arabian, Quarter Horse, Paint) the DNA tests required are to verify parentage, proving that the individual being registered came from the specificed registered parents (whos DNA type is available because it was previously filed with the registry.)
