The American Trail Horse Association is open to any horses/ponys in the USA. Here's the web if you'd like to see it:
ATHA

AQPA is the same but the ponys must be under 14.2
American Quarter Pony Association

Also I just found American Grade Horse Registry (AGHA) but be careful I don't know if there 'true' or not. (Is anyone Reg.ed with them?)
http://www.aghr.com/aghr-main.html

Pleasure Saddle Horse Registry but as they say "For a limited time, application for registration of high quality, gaited horses of unknown or unregistered parents is possible under the "Hardship Clause"."
Pleasure Saddle Horse Registry - Recognized Breeds - Breed Code Key

You can look up
' Horse Registry's that are open to Unknown parents '

What do you want this registry to do for you? Knowing that might help people answer your question.

Existing.... He does that by just being there, next to you, standing in his pasture, eating his dinner, etc.

No reason to pay money to some organization just because, is there?

Contrary to the negativity to what AB exudes ( and who doesn't even live in the US ) you should try the AWS. They are relativity inexpensive.

*scratches head.

Negativity?

Funny how people can read negative thoughts into something that does not contain any.

I was trying to tell the OP that her horse is great even with out some registry so why spend the money on one that will not be doing her any long term good.

Not sure how that is negative.

And curious. Where do I live then?
