oo please do post pictures of his recovery if you have the time. i'm so happy to hear that he's back with you safe and sound!!! just a thought though, you could get him microchipped. that way, if he's stolen again, they can scan his neck, see the number, and match it to you (your name will be registered with his specific number). either way, i'm sure he's grateful to be back with someone that loves him so much =)

This happened since June 30 when you originally posted?

Yes - the burden of proof goes to whomever is trying to claim the item. Horse, car, etc. You placed your horse at your sisters. She sold him. In the eyes of the law, there was no theft involved.

Written contracts don't guarantee an outcome but they go a long way if they are needed.

When I read your story I was mortified! I thought what the heck would I do if this happened to me! My Horse was bred by my father and has been part of are famil more then any of the many mnay many babies who have gone on to race or other homes...so if someone stole HIM...I would crumble...
I am so happy to hear that he is home with you....his special mama...
I am almost 40 and not married no kids..my cats and my horse are my kids too.
I know that with you love and tender care you WILL restore your horse to the condition he was before all this awful stuff had happened....
24 hours away...Why why why...would your sister have done this....even if it was not your sister(i think thats what you said in the other post.) I just am delighted to here this...

She posted on June 30 that he had been at her sister's for at least 2 months already. She didn't mention how long between that time and her first post. It's feasible for a horse to drop that much in 2 months if it's being worked too hard and not fed enough.

After 2 months of being there my sister tells me she sold him.

I am so happy for you!! I know your horse is happy to be back home with you! I'm so sorry to hear that he lost weight - it won't take you long to love him back into shape! Congratulations and hugs to your sweet horse and to you! It's unbelievable that your sister would do something like that - how hateful of her!

Since I'm fairly new to the forum, could you fill me in a bit? How where you able to locate Spirit? Why was the horse sold to begin with? And how far from home did you have to go? And was there any problems with the "owners" to get them to release him back to you?

This is so cool. I think its wonderful
