What breed are rodeo broncs?

I know they are mixed breeds, but what do most of the stock producers go for? Most of them appear to be draft crosses..

From what I am reading on other forums that deal with Rodeo stock and questions pertaining to them, Drafts mixed with QH, Appy, Paints seems to be favored.

I would imagine the Draft blood would give better bone structure? Stronger horses would be better I would think for this.

It has to be big and strong enough but light enough to be athletic. Most pure drafts are too heavy. You see lots of draft crosses and heavier boned stock breeds. You see lots of spoiled saddle horses go through bucking auctions, qh type, paints and appys with decent bone, athletic and with the desire to get rid of their riders.

One of the most tallented bucking horses I'd ever seen(not at a rodeo) was a spoiled Quarter horse.

Ahh I see...I always thought it was interesting how a lot of PMU horses look like rodeo broncs....probably because a lot are draft crosses!
