What color and Breed?

Ok so I bought my horse at the auction and he is perfect I could not ask for a better boy. He is 15.2 and he is built very wide and strong. I was told when I bought him he was a reg qh. Well when I got the papers it was all messed up and they were not his papers. O well would not trade him for the world. But anyways I have had lots of ppl tell me he looks like a morgan and some a foundation qh..So I guess I am asking what you guys think. And what color would you call him. Here as some pictures the day I got him. I will post some new ones later. Thanks

Green Broke
He kind of looks like a fading black. Since his head is all white but i'm not very good with colors. This is how one of the horses we have looks like in the summer. And in the winter you would SWEAR he is black. And he seems to be retaining a mostly black head like your boy. So that's my guess

Yup fading black QH. I don't see a cross. Too bad about his papers. But being a gelding it really doesn't matter.

A friend has papers for her boy and I just told he he's no 8 yr old more like 28 by his teeth. They are as long as my fingers.

Can you explain to me why you are saying faded black? I do not know colors but the basic ones. I know I sound silly but trying to learn here.

That horse is a dark chestnut. There is no black in him. His legs would be black if he was a faded black.

Not sure. But I was saying fading black because his head looks back. (hard to tell by the photos and I am no expert!) but fading black is a color that appears to be black but during the warm months they turn a brown color. Where as a TRUE non fading black stays black for the most part besides maybe a little bleaching from the sun but for that i'm not even sure.

Any ideas on breed? I think QH but others are telling morgan

Fading black (I know this filly personally and she is black and registered so)

Dark bay:

"dark" liver chestnut

Very subtle differences but they are there. I'd go with a liver or "dark" chestnut. As for breed, I don't think morgan, maybe a cross, but he's most likely quarter-horse.
