What color do you think this colt is?

This colts name is RW Bask Medallion he is out of Rebandeez Snowwind and by Golbaske. He is owned by a friend of mine and were both not quite sure about his color. Both of his parents are liver chestnut, and he looks sorta inbetween... what do you guys think?? Is he Liver chestnut, Chestnut, or sorrel? Last pic is a pic of his mom close up. Sorry its not the best pic of her but its the only one I have on this computer.

Wait till he sheds out. He does look like he could go liver chestnut. However - genetically - all 3 are the same. Sorrel just tends to have flaxen modifier and/or mealy while liver and more smutty-type influence. However some regular chestnuts also can have some smutty influence but not enough to be considered liver.

In fact I had a QH filly that was bright red chestnut during part of the year, but looked liver chestnut other parts of the year - she never could decide which she wanted to be. LOL.

He looks chesnut as of now, but I'd be willing to bet that he'll take after the liver chesnut color once he sheds out and gets older. Like Cat said, they are all the same, just different modifiers. Cute little guy though!

I would say a dark chesnut. I don't think that he will shed out and be dark enough to qualify as a liver chesnut. He is a very cute boy.

I have to agree with the above posters. Once he sheds out I believe he will be a liver chestnut although I can tell how confusing he must look with all those different shades on him now. This is off topic but he is adorable, he will definitely grow up to be quite stunning.

Ya I agree he looks to be liver chesnut but until he sheds out no one will know. How old is he?

I believe he will be a dark chestnut or liver chestnut. He is lighter now than he will be once he has matured.

He is liver chestnut with a flaxen mane (and maybe tail, hard to tell). My last horse was this color and an Arabian too.
