Bay or smutty buckskin

Cute horse! My mare had me confused for years, and I finally just asked an equine professor at college:)

I asked my veterinarian the first time he came out and he was baffled! He said he would probably call it a seal brown. But that was in December when Bandit was fairly dark. I should have him look again this spring and see what he thinks then...He's like a chameleon (sp?) that is always changing colors!

I would say he is a form of buckskin? I was initially leaning more towards bay but I think buckskin might be more appropriate.

I think he's a bay. Lol

It seems like most everyone has narrowed it down to bay or sooty buckskin. I'm really anxious to see what he sheds out like now!!!
