    what is the difference??

    For a while I have been wondering: what is the difference between a paint and pinto??

    Paint is a breed - pinto is a coat pattern/color

    Exactly what themacpack said, if it isn't registered or eligible to be registered with APHA, it's a pinto.

    Paints are registered as paints, sometimes you will look at a horse and say you have a buetiful paint horse but they will say its a pinto because they are not a true paint in order to be a true paint they have to be registerd!!!
