That's like saying my quarter horse isn't a quarter horse because he isn't registered in the AQHA.
I think Feathered's point is that he's a grade. So if he's a grade, there is no proof that he's a Paint.
You can show me a purebred Arabian but if you don't have papers for it, I don't consider it a purebred Arabian. Could be 1/4 Morgan for all I know.
So, while he may be a "Paint", technically he's a Pinto.

Correct me if I'm wrong, FeatheredFeet!

Exactly. This has been discussed and explained on the forum, many times. You gave a perfect example. A relative of mine has a similar horse. Might have been a Paint, but since there are now no papers, she is simply a pinto.

I'm not saying that he isn't a grade pinto, that's completely possible, but my point was that he isn't necissarily not a paint because he isn't registered. There are many unregestered paints out there.

Well... To me an unregistered paint = pinto.

Then what is a unregistered Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred
Not all purebred horses registered

Its like with dogs a German Shepherd is a German Shepherd whether its
Registered or not just means they can't sell it for more money
$500 for no papers and $1000 for the papers

I have tk agree with countrywoman, just because a horse or any animal for that matter isnt reg. Doesnt mean its not purebred, in fact I also have a purebred QH who isnt reg. I don't have any pics of her up becus she is not in state and isnt going to be she's staying with my aunt who owns both her parents and they are both purebred but not reg. Saying a horse isnt purebred just becuase it isnt registered is like saying, not to be racist or anything, but its like saying a black person isnt black because they have a "white" name, ik that sounded racist but its not ment to be sry if I offened anyone im just trying to prove a point

They're grades. You have PROOF of pedigree, just someone words.
So, this is the way *I* look at it:
Unregistered = grade = colour, not breed.

This horse, and any other, may very well be purebred. But without papers from a BREED registery (which the Paint IS), what else do you have to base it on other then...Colour?

LOL
Interesting example.
I'm not saying your horse (who is really cute, BTW!) or any non-registered horses aren't purebred. I understand there are lots of purebred, unregistered horses out there. I'm saying you have no PROOF.
If it's advertised as Purebred Paint or Arabian, people are going to assume and ask for pedigree or papers. So how can anyone PROVE that a grade a horse is purebred? You can't.
So I go back to my original theory:
Unregistered = grade = no breed.

If you are showing the horse or dog it should be registered but
If its a pet who care if the are registered or not
They have to be a good match for the owner
A registered horse can be more of a handful too
