My family owns three minis and I think they are great! All three of these horses are broke to drive.

    Rusty

    Angel

    Treasure

They are fairly smart and can be easy to train. It is important to treat them like a horse and not a dog. All three of these horses went out to a trainer for driving. I have taught horses to drive but we have a couple of world class mini driving trainers in Michigan and we wanted them to be competive in the show ring.
This is a video of Rusty VERY EARLY in his driving training last spring.

I can't wait to get a video Angel driving. She is Rusty's full sister.

How can you NOT love a mini! I don't own one, but if I were to take up driving ( and I am seriously thinking about it) I think I'd want a mini. Especially after viewing that horrible youtube video about the driving accident!!! I mean, how fast can a mini really go compared to a full sized horse, right!

Mini classes can have driving accidents too but the size and power difference makes them seem less dangerous.

Minis are my favorite :) I have 15 currently (but one has a sale pending, and some are pregnant... my numbers fluctuate!) :)

I breed, show, love ect them. My main love is combined driving with my mini gelding Chili Pepper, and my hubby does it with his gelding Cruiser. We are also part of a mini horse driving drill team (www.minimystique.org) where we perform a drill and also are in parades and do breed demos.

You can see all of mine on my website, ::: My Homepage :::
