Thanks for posting that info @PaintHorseMares. I don't think it's going to help my paint bred solid mare but it's still good to know. Her only chance would be DNA testing and since she's 21 now and I'm no longer breeding I'm not going to that expense. White passed her by completely. LOL
I'm not a Paint person but that seems very logical- has pinto pattern and pinto markings and Paint parents can be registered Paint. I've seen a LOT of obviously pinto horses that don't technically (didn't...) qualify, nice to see that change.
Yes, I agree. As DNA testing became more and more common and so many white pattern genes were found, many people criticized the APHA for sticking with their "old fashioned" visual classifications of tobiano, overo, and tovero (and solid). To see them introducing DNA pattern tests into the registration process is a major step for the registry, IMHO.
