    Confusing Paint Colors!

Ok, so all three of my paints are listed as tobiano's, but upon trying to research why my two mares have different patterns, I am just confusing myself more. They will be color coat tested next year prior to breeding, but I just want to see what others think in the meantime. I believe Vana, the mare with the cent brand and white hairs in her pattern might also have sabino traits, while Lexi, is a more "clean lined" tobiano. Vana has a grey mom and dad was sorrel tobiano, and Lexi a grulla overo mom and dad is sorrel tobiano (she has been tested N/N for all 5 diseases).

I have also included my colt Flint, who is the medicine hat, which I read is an overo trait. Would that mean he is tovero then?

Anyone have opinions on what genetics might be at play? Also (and this may be a really stupid question but I have not seen anything on it), how does one go about inserting a picture and then describing the picture either above and below it (instead of a lengthy explanation like this, lol)?

I won't comment on the possible patterns at play, but as to your technical question:

You'd have to upload the photos externally, say to photobucket and then use IMG tags to insert them into the post. So lets say you upload a photo to photobucket and the URL for that photo is photobucket.com/username/photo.jpg, it would look something like this:

    Blah blah blah

[IMG ]photobucket.com/username/photo.jpg[/ IMG] (without the spaces inside the [])
    blah blah blah

    [IMG ]photobucket.com/username/photo2.jpg[/ IMG]

    Blah blah blah

Ok, thanks. I have triple checked when just straight uploading them from the computer and thought I was missing something simple.

I am no expert, but I don't think they qualify as medicine hat, as those usually just the ears forelock and very little color on the rest of the body. I found this site that has a lot explanation press.apha.com/pdfs/guidebooks/colorgenguide. Or just simply google apha coat colors .

The first horse is sorrel tobiano and I'm thinkin sabino and maybe frame the jagged spotting instead of big round spots of tobiano make me wonder, though that could just be the sabino making it look that way. I would definitely test. The grulla colt is tobiano and splash the facial white is very smooth. And probably sabino as well since color has remained around the eyes. And that is a Medicine Hat.
