A couple of colours questions...

OK, first of all I'm really sorry but I can't post pictures of the horses I'm talking about, so when I describe them please try and bear with me!

There are two in mind, Toby and Sarge. Both of them are described as 'bay' but I'm not sure about one of them and I'm thinking pangare for the other.

First of all is Toby. He's a very dark, black-brown with black points, however has a very mealy muzzle, doesn't change colour with the seasons at all. No real lightening of the flank though, which is what makes me wonder if he isn't brown (I think he may be brown.)

Then there's Sarge. He's a VERY bright bay, very red chestnut but with black mane and tail. His black legs only go up to his knees, though, and above that they have mealy coloured hair before going into the red. His flank and muzzle are mealy too, but he has no lighter guard hairs as should be seen in a bay with pangare, I think.

Could anybody tell me what colours these horses could be? I know it may be hard without pictures, I'm sorry. If you need more information feel free to ask.

Does the mealiness look like this, kinda white and creamy colored?
My bay with pangre.

Or dark kind of orangey colored? This is brown.

The first horse looks exactly like Sarge, minus the creamy guard hairs in the mane. Sarge was a brumby (like an Aussie mustang so we really have no clue what's in his genetics) The second and third horses look exactly like Toby :)

So Sarge is a bay with pangare, Toby is a brown?

Thanks!

Perhaps all I can do is guess since no pics are posted....
