Duke's coloring- nothing phenominal, just curious!

Duke is three a half years old. His sire was a registered chestnut straight egyptian arabian named El Deaux(sp? XD) and his dam was a registered, gaited Peruvian Paso. She was very similarly colored to Duke, with the metallic shine on her coat. She also had dapples, though- which Duke doesn't seem to have (yet). She was slightly darker, also. Both sire and dam are unfortunately deceased, and I have no pictures. I was told that El Deaux was a quite red chestnut, but have not seen him myself.

I don't have great pictures, but I"ll post what I have. The many-shaded, metallic look to his coat is absolutely beautiful, I'm not exactly sure what to call it!














(please pardon the overgrown feet. He's got 7 weeks of growth and it due for a pedicure! Also ignore the hay...he tends to wear more of his food than he eats! XD)

He looks very bleached out!

He's been pastured since the day he was born, so maybe that's it ^^ sun's just gotten to him!

I wasn't sure though, because even as a little guy (three months old and on) he had this look. I would think that at such a young age, bleaching wouldn't of been the cause.

A sun/summer bleached mahogany bay?

Was his mother listed as bay?

I'd say a very sunbleached brown.

She was listed as a sooty bay.
