Foal
grey question

I am curious about the chance a foal from a dam that has several generations of grey in her background but is not grey herself will produce a grey foal? Does anyone know or even better have a link so that I could read up on it? Thanks

Foal
Gray is a dominant mutation so as long as the mare is not gray and is not bred to a gray stallion she will never produce a gray foal.

Foal
To be grey, a parent must be grey. It doesn't matter if there is grey in the bloodline, the only way the mare would produce a grey foal is if the sire is grey.
