Jockey Club TB tattoo identification

I saw a forum post a few pages back discussing the jockey club's tattoo ID website, and people said that the website will give you decsriptions of white markings and cowlicks when you look up a horse.

Where do you find this info on their website???

I've used their website to try to ID some of the TBs at my barn, but I never saw any such thing (white markings or cowlick descriptions).

I'd love to know where to access this info for extra verification that I correctly ID'ed them.

Also, has anyone ever used their research feature where someone will try to ID horses older than 25 or with partial tattoo? The form seems to ask for hardly any info - do they ask for more info or photos farther on? Has anyone had any luck with this?

HEre is a link to the Jockey Club Tattoo ID page

You just need to register, and you can look up tattoos, partial tattoos, and markings.

yes, but WHERE do you find the markings part of their website?

I am registered and have looked up tattoos, but all it gives me is color and no mention of markings or anything of the sort

Oh..just sign in, on the left of the site there is a link that says, "Tattoo identification service". Click that, then put in the horses tattoo number, or use the tattoo research option.

As Erika said, when you sign in and click on the tattoo identification services if will bring you to the page I have posted a screen shot of below, as you can see it asks if your horse has any white, then asks further if it has a star or stripe and if your horse has any white on it's legs and which legs. It's very helpful in narrowing down your search!
