Mare's Paint Pattern

Just wondering what her color/pattern is? I have been looking at different paints and still trying to figure out how it is determined. Thanks

I don't know a whole lot about colors and patterns, but having two sabinos myself, I can tell you her markings definitely show sabino, not sure what else though.

It gets very hard when they have so much white

I'd guess tobiano and sabino for sure. Tobiano because the pattern goes up all the legs and over the back and tail, but avoids the head. Sabino because the edges are pretty messy. The face makes me think frame is a possibility with how it extends up above the eyes and has that little colored bit that pokes into the star, but I'd expect it to also cut off the white on at least one of the legs. So I'll wait and see what others say on that one!

Tobiano and sabino for sure.. No doubt in my mind about that. If you are to breed, test her for frame as well. Something about the coloring across the back makes me think slightly frame.

Agreed Tobiano, Sabino and possibly frame.

Tobiano, frame and sabino IMO.

Tobiano is the easy one - the white is crossing the spine, lots of it lol.

Sabino is also relatively easy to see - the messy edges on the body white, and the relative symmetry of the face white.

Frame is fairly easy to spot too. See the way the body colour is trying to run horizontally along the topline, and along the belly? That is how frame is trying to express. It is trying to force the colour to "frame" the body white.
Poseidon likes this.

Sabino can be confused for frame as well though. Sabino can mimic it. I wouldn't be comfortable calling her frame unless she tested positive for it.

However, I'd be comfortable saying she phenotypically may be frame, as in, she looks it.

Same could go for tobiano and sabino though. It can be mimicked by other patterns. In fact, the pattern I would be LEAST comfortable assuming isn't there until it's tested for IS frame. I would rather assume frame was present in every horse of a breed that frame is present in, than assume it's not there and possibly breed the horse. All horses of breeds with frame present should assume that they are positive before testing, as a precautionary measure, and to promote any other viewpoint is irresponsible.

Also, I am reasonably sure it is not sabino mimicking frame in this case. Also fairly sure a frame test would come back positive.
