Not a black gelding!

So I bought this boy off the internet, he was advertised as a "black gelding". But when he turned up his papers say "Brown".
Doesnt matter to me , he's just an excellent horse.

First photo is when he got here in the tropics with winter fur on. (poor boy!) Second photo is after three months in the tropics - no rug because that would just be cruel in this heat.

So, he is brown right? (besides being very handsome of course)

Yup, definitely a brown

Mods, grant me the serenity to see the opinions I cannot change, courage to change the ones that should change, and the wisdom to spot the trolls.

of course there is no way to be for sure what his genetic color is without knowing more info like at least one of his parents etc but I would say he is "seal bay" which is apperently mistaken for black in the winter or when the horse isnt int he sun, but the lower flank and muzzle and eyes etc stay lighter. Google it, its kinda hard to describe.... but I believe that is the most correct term for what coat color your horse is..
Btw congrats!

"Seal bay" IS brown. It is a genetically testable form of agouti.
