Is she really a buckskin?

My friend is selling this horse and had her listed as buckskin on the ad. I asked her if it was a mistake and she said nope she's a buckskin with no explanation. So is she correct, and if so what makes her a buckskin? I thought she was a red dun, as there are no black points or anything indicating buckskin to me.

No....she is a Red Dun....not even close to being a buckskin. Your friend has not a clue.

Okay thanks for the reply, I was going to say I am completely missing something if THAT is a buckskin. I guess colors just aren't her strong point

She might be able to sell her faster if she gave an accurate description. I wouldn't buy a horse from someone who didn't know the color. Just makes me wonder what else they could be mistaken about.

Red Dun. Your friend was waaayyy off.

I agree with MelissaAnn; maybe you could show her what a buckskin is supposed to look like next to a red dun, and tell her to correct her mistake.

I'll tell her. I'm not really sure what was going on in her head, because she used to have a gelding that actually was a buckskin, so she knows what they look like. Maybe it was one of those things where she was saying buckskin out loud and thinking dun in her head...not really sure

She is red dun....but...the American Buckskin Horse Association registers buckskins and duns. Red, bay and grulla.

So she could be registered as the "breed/registry" buckskin but not the "color" buckskin.
