So, I like to think I know a thing or two about coloring and genetics, especially when it comes to the dun gene seeing as I have a horse with it. But the other day I had my chiropractor come out to take a look at my gelding, Jasper, and she said something that confused me. Now she had never seen Jasper before, but I have used her for other horses and she's absolutely brilliant. What confused me was that she said "Did you know your horse is a buckskin dun?" I tried to respectfully say that he is a RED dun, not a dunskin, but she was adamant that he is a dunskin. He has a solid dorsal stripe, leg barring, and some light webbing on his shoulder, so I know he is for sure some sort of dun, and I thought that dunskin horses had light bodies, with black points. So I'm asking for other opinions, because I am still convinced that he is a red dun. But if I am incorrect I would like to know so I can properly tell people the color of my own horse. Thanks!
