What color?

Normally he's like a sorrel but his color has darkened alot. Its like a brown with a silvery hue that is circling his dapples.

Is he like a flaxen liver chestnut?
Also, what color halter would look good on him? Red?

I would say no to the red halter. Turquoise or Purple! :)

He looks chestnut/sorrel to me.

Leather halters... love them! If you are going with something other than leather, blue and green family of colors look the best against red coats.

Blues and Greens would look fab on him. Stay away from reds, oranges, yellows.

I'm not sure where the flaxen is coming in as him mane is just white, not flaxen, but a sorrel paint.

His forelock is flaxen. If it were not, it would be red, like his body. His mane is white from the pinto markings.

Quite a nice looking fellow! Love the heavy set ponies! (All horses are ponies to me, even my 16.2 drafter, LOL).
