Question What color is my foal?

This is my quarter horse/mustang cross foal Oakley. Her dam is an off the track quarter horse, I believe she is brown, she is a very dark bay color with a orange muzzle, and orange hue around her eyes and flanks. Oakley's sire is a wild mustang in the Sandia Mountains that was jumping over the fences to get to the mares. They were unsure of his color because their where several horses that they caught on the other side of the fence.

So what color is Oakley? I've been told zebra dun because at birth she had zebra stripes on her legs and she has a dark dorsal stripe down her back. I've been told bay and I've been told that she is brown just like her mom. She was a light color until she got her winter coat. Once her winter coat started to come in she started to darken up but now that she is shedding out she is lightening back to her original color. I really don't care about what color she is, I was just curious because I have gotten so many different opinions about her color.

Here she is a 2 weeks

And here she is at 8 months when I bought her

Im going to say Seal brown/bay. The dun like markings are common in foals and fade as their foal coat sheds.

No dun, but likely brown agouti instead of bay agouti

Agreed, 100% brown. No dun. Markings that mimic dun like the dorsal stripe, leg bars, and shoulder bars can often be found on foals because, like Kiger said, it's part of their natural camouflage.

She's a cutie.

Thanks guys! I was leaning towards brown like her mom. Here is a picture from Friday, you can see where she is shedding back to the lighter color on her flanks.
