I have to add--with splash. Frame likes to keep the legs dark, I think she has some splash going on too.

She definitely has Splash. Frame only expresses itself loudly when it has another pattern gene to work with. A large white face that includes white over the eyes is a tell-tale sign of Splash.

No I would say a "sorrel frame overo"

He is both frame and splash, but the pattern most people see and recognize on his is frame.

Or you could say a sorrel splash frame and be more correct. I'm all for saying everything a horse is :)

I think adding the splash in is going to confuse more people than is needed that have no clue about horse color genetics. IMO sticking with just the frame in this particular horse covers it pretty well.

Why pass up the chance to educate someone though? I could easily call my mare a tobiano. But I don't. And people then ask what is splash and I get to tell them about it
