What color is my horse, and why is she black this summer?

So, I think she's some kind of bay coloring as she's a reddish (more brown in the picture, though) with black feet, but I couldn't be sure since I'm still learning the different horse colors. Picture 1 and 2 shows her summer coloring the summer we bought her, and the last ones show her now. My last barn owner said she must be sun bleached. If so, will she ever return to her normal coloring? Don't get me wrong, she's beautiful both ways. But I like her red as well as her black :)

Here is a better picture of her the day I got her, looking sulky because she has to work and actually do stuff.

She's black. She sun fades hence looking "redish" or bay like when you got her last summer.

Really?! I was told the opposite - that she is typically bay colored, and she sun faded to black. Unless I just understood wrong, which may very well be so. :p

Bay cannot fade to black. Black can fade, or sun bleach, to a bay like color. You happen to own a horse that is black and sun fades.

Okay, that makes sense. I was kind of wondering when the woman told me how a bay color could "fade" to black, but I assumed it was just a thing horses could do since most horse people probably know more about horse coloring than me.

Thanks! I'm glad I can finally say for sure what she is.
