About a month ago I went out to look at this pony that I saw on craigslist:
When I got there I met a very sweet pony who looked like this:
Yikes! Vet scored her as a 2.5- she was worse than the pics capture. I couldn't leave her- a month of good hay and our great vet doing her teeth/worming, and she looks great. Pretty much everything the ad said seems to have been made up as far as her training/experience, so I'm not too sure of breed either.
I bought her as a buckskin haflinger/quarter horse cross. She is 13hh and now tapes at about 700 lbs. She is 9. The vet and my trainer think she has icelandic in her. We do have a large icey farm in town, so they are somewhat common here. She walks like she is gaited, but she does trot. Do you have a breed opinion, besides pony?
I asked the vet what color she was, and he didn't know either. She isn't yellow enough for buckskin I think. She is pangare for sure. She has sort of a hint of darker hair on her spine, but not a real stripe like for dun. She has a palomino foal before I got her. I don't know what the stud was though-fence jumper. She is marked like a wild type bay, but is too light/goldey for bay? She has light edges to her mane like a fjord would, but not as wide. She has a tuft of light at the base of her tail too. I don't know- that's why I'm asking the experts here. :)
