What colour is he?

This is a friends pony that I always just called 'pinto' because i'm no good with colours, and haven't really thought about it until now. Id be interested to know what breeds you see in him too!

No he is not. His base color is chestnut. Brown is a completely different color. He is also tobiano, splash, and sabino. Most likely frame also.

LOL Purple.
Poseidon, is the splash causing the blaze that continues under his chin?
Would you call it flaxen chestnut because of that section in his mane also?

Yes, that could be splash. Sabino also causes chin white.

You could call him flaxen if you want. I usually don't say flaxen unless there is a considerable difference in color, but his doesn't look much lighter than his body color.

I believe him to be just simply Flaxen Chestnut Tobiano, if he was sabino he would have more ghosting and maybe speckling, he's no doubt flaxen, if he were plain chestnut he would have same color or darker mane. I can't say for sure about the splash since tobiano could cause that chin, and plain whites would cause that blaze.

Mane compare;

Tobiano does not put that much white on a horse by itself ever.
