What colour is my mare?

Okay.. so when I got her.. she was BRIGHT red, chestnutty. (She was 13/14)
(Not the best picture to show though :/ that's 2009 I'm pretty sure )
Then.. she got darker the next year.. and the year after . She's 16 this july.

This is her summer 2010 -

And last summer -
Her butt also is dappled in the summer .
I'd give a picture of her currently, but she's all winter fuzz and she looks silly xD

About her , if anyone's curious..
Breed - Quarter Horse
Age - 16
Sex - Mare
Height - 15.2h

Chestnut. It is not unusual for horses to change shades from season to season, and even year to year. In fact, it's pretty normal. She is a cutie pie!

Also wanted to add that when you got her, she looked like she was not in the best condition, while in the later pics she looks very very healthy. A horse's health has HUGE impact on the condition of their coat, and that is probably why there is so drastic a change in your mare.

We got her from a farm in Maine that had her in a field all year round, so that's probably why she didn't look the greatest . XP She was fed with 5+ other horses.
