Question What is my LP appy's base coat?

I'm realizing that there are a lot more to appy's then what meets the eye. I'm thinking his base coat is bay because he has brown spots on his body and black on his legs, but I don't know a lot of about color so I'd thought I'd ask the experts .

Green Broke
His color is gorgeous! I think bay, possible a dark buckskin? But that is probably unlikely.

I would also say bay. What a handsome fellow he is, one of my favorite appy patterns too!

Definitely bay. The legs can sometimes be deceiving as some chestnut Appys can have darker legs that are very dark brown and almost appear black. But there is no mistaking the remaining black hairs in the mane and tail - most bay Appys retain a few of those black mane and tail hairs. The hairs that turn white usually turn brown first and then white, but the ones that stay black are black for life...
