Okay so this was not planned and I should really not be talking about it yet but......I just received some VERY VERY good news :)

Long story short, I have been in love with this little gray gelding for his whole life. I was there the day he was born and for about the first year of his life I saw him on a daily bases. I have always joked with his owner about him being mine and how she is just holding him for me, or when she comes over with her trailer I always tease her about the fact that the gray better be on that trailer I am ready for him to come home, and whenever I talk to her I always ask how my horse is doing. She lives in the county next to the county I live in (really like 15 min away) and her house is "kinda" on the way to town so I always drive by or make my boyfriend drive by just so I can catch a glimpse at the gray.

A little back story on his owner, she is a horse collector. Not bad, as in she just continues to add new additions, but bad as once she gets a horse she never lets them go. She only has 12 or 13 right now, she takes very good care of them and they have it made. The first horse she has "sold" in the past probably 10 years was when she surprised me with my mare on Christmas morning back in 2008. My mare was her college graduation present from her father, she had gotten her when the mare was about 6 months old, so I was only her 3rd owner. So its quiet a complement to be sold one of her horses in the first place seeing as she lets them go to no one and if she does she is very picky. I look up to her a lot, she is about 10 years older then me, but has filled in as my horse mother/mentor.

Anyways, back to the gray. About 3 months ago I finally made my move and asked how much she wanted for him, she then jokingly said "How much you got" after saying I had whatever she wanted she told me she had things in the works for him to be sent to a local trainer and that when he got back from the trainer and if they did not click then she would sell him to me. I told her I would not forget this and have not really talked to her about it since. Then today I was texting her about what she had been up too and about how my horse was doing, she replied with "a lot of working and a lot of riding" but that she had not had much time for the gray due to her other young horse that she has been trying to put a good foundation on. Then she kinda slid into the comment about how she was thinking of selling a few. I then made the comment that she could send the gray my way and she basically replied with Okay! :)
We talked over a price and although nothing is set in stone yet I AM SO EXCITED. We made plans for me to come out Wednesday and Thursday of this coming week for me to ride him and just play around with him and really decide if he is the horse for me :)

I CAN NOT STOP SMILING!!! I hope he works well for me!!!

Its so funny that I am so in love with him because he is the opposite of what my usual "horse taste" is. He is 1/3 Tb 3/4 QH, if I am not mistaking. His mother is the one with the TB on her and when I looked at her papers a few years back nothing jumped out at me, but I also know nothing about TB lines. I remember seeing Native Dancer and a Playboy name but that is about it. His mother is a flea bitten gray. As far as his father goes all I can remember is he was some nice AQHA chestnut stud, I looked at his lines around the same time I did his mothers but can not remember his lines, I want to say he had Two Eyed Jack in him but can not remember.

Anyways, he is still going through those awkward years, he is very tall and narrow looking but boy is he a beauty! He is a gray with so much chrome! Just take a look at the few pictures I have of him. Not the best photos I will be snapping ALOT when I go to ride him :)

I would love to get yalls input on him, from what you can tell with these pictures anyways. Be as cruel as you want :)

Also, I am looking at him as a barrel prospect but really if he did not take to it I would be happy just to have him to look at :)

The 1st picture is of him about 6 months ago.
The 2nd and the 3rd are pictures taken of him today while his owner was down at the barn, his mother is standing to his right.

I have nice conformation pictures of Pepper on my laptop that I was going to email to you but I haven't been home. They are of him as a 3 year old, I don't have any really recent ones but I can probably take some tomorrow when I go by Wendi's if you want me to?

I know that feeling. My avatar is "my baby" She is for sale, but i'm in no position to buy her at this point. I keep hoping something will work out and she'll be mine one day. she's the only horse that I wouldnt care if she had soundness issues, I just want her. Never thought I'd want a mare, let alone a redheaded mare. This is very exciting. I'm very happy for you.

Well sorry guys no pictures today, something came up this morning and I had to go to the doctor, I do not really want to get into details but I could use every ones prayers. I plan on going out tomorrow and visiting him. I do not know if I am going to ride or not, but I will be doing a lot of loving and picture taking.

All Smiles

So I just got back from visiting with Pepper and I even felt good enough to ride.
he did very well for me :)
he is still green but he is such a sweet heart and willing to learn I just love him!
Her are some pictures, still not the best but I did try.
Please don't jugde my fatness, I have packed on the pounds.

p.s. I don't think he will make a barrel horse but he is such a pretty mover and he moves just like an English horse, so may get into that if I get him. But for now I am just going to work towards putting a good foundation on him and then a lot of miles.

With the assumption that you still want a critique...

He toes out just slightly in the front, and is very narrow chested. His pasters are longer and his feet are a bit small. I don't like the way his neck and chest tie into eachother (he definately got that as well as his neck from mom), and he has the very typical shark fin withers of a TB, though they arent half as bad as many that I've seen. His girth isn't as deep as I'd like but it isn't terrible. Back isn't too terrible, though a bit long. Shoulders have fair angle although I'd like to see a little more, and his LS joint placement is good. Nice straight back legs (from what I can see anyways). For what its worth, his head is cute too and I just love his coloring...shame he has to grey out, eh?

All in all he's a very typey grade horse, not fantastic but not anything to laugh at. I think he'll look much better when he's all muscled out though ;) What matters is that you both get along with eachother well!

Yes, I do want critique. Thank you for your input.
Although, I do not see anything wrong with the way his neck ties into his chest your other points are very valid. He is very narrow, he gets that from his TB on his dams side. I can not wait to see him fill out and mussel up more, he has not had much done with him and he is just coming four this year, he still had a little growing to do. He is also 15.3 and we are thinking he will mature to 16 hands, but could be a little more.

My appologies, I meant to say neck into withers. Mostly because of undermuscling, I think.

If he's four I'd expect him to do some major filling out this year, and hopefully with that and some muscle, he'll look great ^^ I do think he's going to really favor his mom's side though.
