appaloosa mare critique

I recently put a deposit on this mare to use as a light trail riding horse.

Her conformation isn't particularly important to me as I'm not asking anything very demanding of her other then a light hack a few times a week once I get her into shape. Was just wondering what anyone thought of her.

I know the pictures are a bit lacking but I can get more after I get her home this weekend.

I got her for much much less then the asking price in this ad.

is she a broodmare? she's got a bit of a belly. could be in need of worming.

she's back at the knee and has a long back (many Appy's do) and downhill. many of those photos look like they are a compressed photo that's been expanded , you know, it looks warped , so not sure you could make a good judgement from them.

She was used as a brood mare and I believe she had recently weaned a baby when some of these pics were taken.

When I talked to her current vet for records I was told her fecal was normal as of the beginning of this month but I'll go ahead and worm her when mine get done and get a new fecal done via my vet when he is out for spring shots later this month.

Thanks for trying despite the not so great pics, I'll get more of her properly squared up this weekend.

You may have a problem with the saddle crawling up on her shoulder blades, or making her sore. If the saddle rides rides against the scapula scar tissue can form. If you find the saddle crawling forward, no amount of padding will fix it. Instead you have to get a crupper and have a stout D ring installed behind the cantle to hold the crupper which will hold the saddle in place.
