    Barrel Prospect?

Does this horse have the conformation of a barrel horse?

Looks very heavy in the front and light in the rump. We like a big motor. :) I'm not a conformation master either but I do know the butts I like. Do you have a rear shot? But I don't see any reason not to run that horse I'm barrels.

    Green Broke
I wouldn't buy him for a barrel prospect unless for only local showing/4h type barrel horse.
Like Phly said, we like our big butts ;p

For a barrel prospect I look at:
-hind end compared to front (and in general)
    -slope of shoulder
    -slight cowhocks
-shorter (but not too short) neck
-3-7 on a 1-10 temperament scale (Id rather slow a horse down than try and get it to want to go fast)

Note: I don't run barrels, but...

He's a cutie! He is heavy on the front and (I think) downhill... but I quite like the look of him, personally! How does he ride? Can you get his haunches under him when you need to? Does he reach under himself when he moves?

In the second picture he has a little belly, which makes me think he could benefit from some abdominal (hill) work that might also help him use his hind end.

The only way to find out is to try, huh? :)

Haven't gone to try him out yet but it couldn't hurt! Who knows, maybe he will love barrels haha :) He sure is a looker though. I am not really a big time barrel racer, just local shows and a couple rodeos a year. Plus I do other types of showing so maybe he would work out well. I am going to be selling both of my horses soon because I want to get something bigger and that I can show a lot. They said that this guy is 16 hh :)
